Paintings of the nude, the real story!
Paintings of the nude
There you go! I made you look. But wait a minute, I just heard a story about a gallery that is doing a special showing of all the nude paintings in their vault. Why? Because singularly the nudes are uncomfortable for many people to look at. So the gallery decides to do a nudes only showing, and it's a smash success with hundreds showing up to see the show.
The real story here, in my view, is not the show but the non show. The fa to that the nudes otherwise sit in the vault perpetually. Never being seen. In fact, the simple problem here is that many paintings sit in major gallery vaults all over the world unseen. Unseen!
Artists all over the world aspire to be collected by major galleries and museums because of the notoriety one gets from being part of such major collections, but the question I have to ask is: would I be happy knowing my paintings were sitting in a cold dark basement vault hidden away and never being seen by the public, but for the occasional two month show?
That seems very sad to me. Very sad.
I don't paint nudes, but what I do paint I wish to be seen every day by as many as possible.

The Pine Tree Painter.
How did I become known as the Pine Tree Painter? You could say I paint a lot of Pine Trees, that would be true. I paint a lot of other things too, but Pine Trees, Spruce Trees, Birch and others seem to be a continuous string in what i do. I just like the way they stand there like a custodian of the land. or a greeter to nature. So, I continue down the path with the Pine Tree Painter name on my head, It's ok.
