Along hwy 60 just before you enter Algonquins West Gate, there’s a snow plow turnaround in which you can park during non snowy seasons. On either side of the hwy there’s joy in abundance, but this painting is taken from the south side after just a five minute hike down to Park Lake. A painters dream is this quaint little area.

I particularly enjoyed the process in creating this work. It came about from inspiration on a clients property in Ontario recently and I knew it had to be a large scale rendering. This is painted on a 64"x64" un stretched canvas, can be shipped internationally at nominal cost in a rolled in a tube. Stretching will be arranged for local acquisition.

As with many of my paintings, it’s not always about a specific place. It is mostly about an emotion, an experience or an impression. I’m not caught up in specifics or details, in fact, the longer I live the the more I want to escape the details. Simplify to what matters. It is symptomatic of my life in general. Longing for what really is essence.
In this canvas I bring together all of the above. It’s a large canvas, 4’x6’ and it’s not inexpensive. A lifetime of experience and composition goes into a painting like this. It will end up one day with someone who fully appreciates that.
In an old National Film Board black and white film A.Y. Jackson said “It’s not the artists job to make a photograph. It is the artists job to capture what moves him/her and leave out the rest.” I could not concur more.
