30"x30" oil on canvas
We are so blessed in Canada to have long week ends almost every month of the year. In warmer months we have a Canada wide tradition of heading off to the cottage. In New Brunswick they like going to PEI. In Manitoba they like heading many hours north to any of the major conservation areas. Out west they love the rockies.
Here in Ontario we have the wonderful lower Canadian Shield. Both conservation areas and non where trees. lakes and rivers call our name. Paddlers, hikers, campers of all sorts venture out of their urban dwellings and become northern voyageurs.
This painting is one of the few that actually depict a person. The paddler has completed his days ventures and is now heading back to camp.
I painted this because that is me. Both in reality from time to time as well as in my dreams. I dream of this even while here in the city. I trust this painting will end up in the home of just such a dreamer.

The Pine Tree Painter.
How did I become known as the Pine Tree Painter? You could say I paint a lot of Pine Trees, that would be true. I paint a lot of other things too, but Pine Trees, Spruce Trees, Birch and others seem to be a continuous string in what i do. I just like the way they stand there like a custodian of the land. or a greeter to nature. So, I continue down the path with the Pine Tree Painter name on my head, It's ok.
