While not departing from oils, I am taking a sabbatical and re exploring my love for watercolours. The depth that can be achieved by multiple layering and staining with pure and only slightly watered pigments are just tantalizing my senses with excitement! You really cannot fully appreciate the action that is happening in these paintings unless seen in person, but suffice it to say its very satisfying. All works painted and sold prior to that can be seen on his Facebook, Instagram or Twitter social Media. 

​The first 35 years of Robert McAffee's painting life was in watercolours. Influenced heavily by the work of his late Uncle, the master Canadian watercolorist  Jack Reid, Robert only worked in watercolour. Numerous solo shows and watercolour workshops from the time he was just 17 to 2009 when his work moved into oils. As per a recent visit Robert made to his Aunt Rosalind Reid, sister to the late watercolorist, Jack Reid, he returned home and painted his first new watercolour in over ten years. On posting that new work to his social media pages, it promptly sold that first day. That inspired another and then another and so on. In the space of just three short weeks over 22 of these new works sold almost as fast as he could paint and post them. Hence, this new web page devoted to the presentation of Robert's New Watercolour works was established.
