I still really enjoy spreading my paper out on the table in front of me rather than tapping into my ipad or cell phone for news. I do that too later in the day but in this moment of solace, this morning start to the day I like the feel of the paper and the general experience. What I do not like is what you see in the picture above. 75% ad's and 25% news item. Page after page after page.
Clearly the businesses who use newsprint advertising must deem it valuable and effective but I wonder how many of those ad buyers actually drive around on recycling blue box pick up day and notice the neatly bundled unread ad sections still together in the original elastic they arrived in? Really? That would seriously qualify the value of the medium.
When I finished "editing" away all the sections I don't want to read I am left with literally a small fraction of the forest that was cut down to provide this paper product to me with.
They will continue to cut the trees, I will continue to edit my sections and life goes on.
Great tea though!
