On the other hand, if you do go abroad you will see lots of forests, rivers, mountains, but once you have you will know once and for all that what is here in Canada is often not found anywhere else on the globe.
Take the Canadian Shield for example. Rugged rock faces carved out by massive ice fields, leaving thousands of lakes, rivers streams and ponds that are surrounded by conifers like none others in the world.
Take this painting shown above, these trees seem to be drenched in the sunlight as it fades. The branches droop down to the water as if to pay homage to the sun. I've hears some say it seems somewhat cartoonish, but when you have the opportunity to see them for yourself, in their natural habitat you quickly realize it is real. Real and unique to Northern Ontario.
I recognized that a long time ago and it is my mission as an artist to present this and many other uniquely Canadian characteristics to the world.
